Multi-purpose Biochar Compost Mix Enriched with Microorganisms
Pure Biochar is ideal for large-scale applications, offering significant benefits across many different use cases.
Biochar (20%) and Compost (80%) blend
This Multipurpose Compost, made from coir , 20% biochar and enriched with microorganisms, serves as an excellent all-purpose growing medium. The biochar addition boosts water retention, improves nutrient retention and reduces soil acidity. Its high cation exchange capacity (CEC) ensures that nutrients in the compost are slowly released into the soil, making them less susceptible to leaching. The addition of microorganisms supports beneficial microbial activity and contributes to long-term soil improvement. This results in better soil structure and healthier plants over time.
Key features
- Increased Microbial Activity: This product introduces a diverse range of beneficial microbes into the soil that can help accelerate nutrient recycling, improves decomposition of organic matter and increases the overall fertility of the soil.
- Higher nutrient retention: Biochar retains nutrients and moisture, preventing them from leaching and gradually releasing them to plants. The addition of microorganisms enhances this by breaking down organic matter into simpler, more plant-available nutrients, improving nutrient efficiency and promoting healthier plant growth.
- Reduced Soil Acidity: Biochar helps neutralise acidic soils by increasing pH levels, making the environment more favourable for plant growth.
- 100% Peat Free: Contains no peat, preserving peatlands and supporting sustainable, eco-friendly gardening alternatives.
Application
This product is ready-to-use, straight from the bag.
Pots, Containers & Hanging Baskets: Select a container with holes for drainage. Place layer of grit in container and fill with compost. Plant up container and water well at time of planting.
Beds & Borders: Dig a hole twice the size of root ball, partially fill with compost. Place the plant in hole and back fill with compost. Slightly compact the compost around plant and water well at time of planting.
Seedlings / Pricking out: Once large enough, prick out seedlings. Hold seedling by the leaves to avoid damage and gently tease the roots from the compost. Plant seedlings well apart in compost to allow for growth
Watering: Biochar and coir naturally retain water, so avoid overwatering.
